Article text
Lundy’s third annual underwater Splash-In photography contest coincides with the the island’s 40th anniversary as a voluntary Marine Nature Reserve and its 25th as a statutory Marine Nature Reserve

The one day competition will be held on Saturday 18th June with a total of 45 places available on a first come, first served basis.

A maximum of four images per photographer can be submitted in the three categories of Mega to Macro, Marine Ambience and Marine Abstract, with judging carried out the following day.

Nicola Saunders, warden on Lundy, said: “Divers will be spoiled for choice in terms of subject matter. The waters surrounding Lundy are teeming with wildlife.

“There are five types of vividly-coloured coral, beautiful sea anemones, playful grey seals, lobsters, shipwrecks and amazing kelp forests to photograph.”

The £20.00 entry fee includes free overnight camping on the island and entry to a barn dance on the Saturday evening.

Prizes valued at £2,500 have been donated by Suunto, Olympus, Fourth Element, Scuba Travel, Sea&Sea and Beaver Sports.
